Connect a 35 mm EU power-tool port (DeWalt / Bosch / Makita) to a 1-1/4 in shop-vac hose

How to join a 35 mm EU power-tool port (DeWalt / Bosch / Makita) to a 1-1/4 in shop-vac hose, and what stops it leaking dust.

Reducer required

Not a direct fit. Joining the 35 mm EU power-tool port (DeWalt / Bosch / Makita) to a 1-1/4 in shop-vac hose needs a 1-1/4 in to 35 mm (32 to 35 mm) shop-vac reducer.

Shop notes

A 35 mm EU tool port is a hair larger than a 1-1/4 in (32 mm) shop-vac hose bore, so the hose will not quite seat over it. The 32-to-35 mm reducer is a stock item precisely because this pairing is so common across Bosch, Makita and DeWalt tools.

This is the pairing every workshop hits first. Buy the reducer once and keep it on the hose end, because almost every EU sander and router lands on this same 35 mm port.
