Shop notes
The DeWalt DWS779 and DWS780 miter port is a 1-5/8 in outer-diameter stub, about 41 to 43 mm, and a 1-1/4 in shop-vac hose (32 mm bore) will not stretch over it. A moulded reducer that grips the 1-5/8 in port on one side and takes the 1-1/4 in hose on the other is the standard connection.
Do not jam the 1-1/4 in cuff onto the bare port with tape. It blows off under airflow and dumps fine dust at the pivot. The stepped reducer, or the DeWalt DWV9000 quick connector, is the part that actually holds.
