Shop notes
The DeWalt sander's outer tube is about 35 mm and a 1-1/4 in shop-vac hose is about 32 mm, so the hose is slightly too small to seat. A short 32-to-35 mm step adapter, the most common shop-vac reducer, closes the gap.
A 3 mm difference feels like it should just push on, and it will, for about a minute. Without the step ring it creeps off under vibration. Use the ring.
