Connect a Router table fence port to a 2-1/2 in shop-vac hose

How to join a Router table fence port to a 2-1/2 in shop-vac hose, and what stops it leaking dust.

Direct fit

These connect directly. A 2-1/2 in shop-vac hose seats on the Router table fence port with no reducer.

Shop notes

A router-table fence port is a 2-1/2 in inner-diameter socket, and a 2-1/2 in shop-vac hose cuff (about 2-1/4 in OD) pushes straight into it. This is one of the few tool-to-vac pairings that needs no reducer at all.

The fence port is the easy one, the router base underneath is not. If dust still escapes, it is leaking at the base enclosure, not at this 2-1/2 in joint.
