Connect a SawStop table-saw rear guard port to a 2-1/2 in Ridgid / Craftsman locking hose

How to join a SawStop table-saw rear guard port to a 2-1/2 in Ridgid / Craftsman locking hose, and what stops it leaking dust.

Reducer required

Not a direct fit. Joining the SawStop table-saw rear guard port to a 2-1/2 in Ridgid / Craftsman locking hose needs a 2-1/2 in to 2-1/2 in step reducer.

END B63.5 mm2-1/2 in Ridgid / Craftsman locking hose (2-1/4 in OD, 2-1/4 in ID)

Shop notes

Measured across the joint between the SawStop table-saw rear guard port and the 2-1/2 in Ridgid / Craftsman locking hose, the port (64 mm) is 6 mm larger than the hose (57 mm), so it will not seat. A 2-1/2 in to 2-1/2 in step reducer closes that 6 mm step so the two hold together instead of leaking at the gap.

A 6 mm mismatch feels close enough to force, and it will hold for a minute before it works loose under airflow. Fit the step ring rather than trusting friction on a gap this size.
