Connect a Ryobi sander port to a Festool D32/22 antistatic hose
How to join a Ryobi sander port to a Festool D32/22 antistatic hose, and what stops it leaking dust.
Not a direct fit. Joining the Ryobi sander port to a Festool D32/22 antistatic hose needs a 1.42 in / 36 mm ID to 22 mm step reducer.
Rings drawn to scale from the measured diameters in the table below.
The two ends
| End A | Ryobi sander port (1-7/16 in ID) |
|---|---|
| End B | Festool D32/22 antistatic hose (7/8 in ID) |
| Fit type | hose cuff into female socket |
| Reducer needed | 1.42 in / 36 mm ID to 22 mm step reducer |
Shop notes
Measured across the joint between the Ryobi sander port and the Festool D32/22 antistatic hose, the port socket (36 mm) is 14 mm larger than the hose tip (22 mm), so the hose tip rattles inside without gripping. A 1.42 in / 36 mm ID to 22 mm step reducer closes that 14 mm step so the two hold together instead of leaking at the gap.
A 14 mm mismatch feels close enough to force, and it will hold for a minute before it works loose under airflow. Fit the step ring rather than trusting friction on a gap this size.
