Connect a Makita 24 mm tool cuff to a Festool D50 antistatic hose

How to join a Makita 24 mm tool cuff to a Festool D50 antistatic hose, and what stops it leaking dust.

Not compatible

Not compatible without stepping down. A Festool D50 antistatic hose is far larger than the Makita 24 mm tool cuff, so it needs a 24 mm to 50 mm step reducer.

Shop notes

The port is about 24 mm and the hose about 50 mm, a gap of 26 mm, so the hose simply swallows the port with no contact. A 24 mm to 50 mm step reducer is needed, and even reduced the airflow is mismatched between the Makita 24 mm tool cuff and the Festool D50 antistatic hose.

Wrapping tape to close a 26 mm gap never seals cleanly and chokes the airflow further. Step the sizes properly, or pair each end with a fitting closer to its own size.
